They made their way through the airport and checked in their luggage. Holly constantly asked for candy from the vending machines which Clare continuously refused before boarding the plane and finding their seats.
âThis is nice,â Holly said as she sat down and began fiddling with everything she could get her hands on. Clare looked over to her and knew that Holly couldnât calm herself down, so she took her hand and held it tight as the plane took off.
Grateful when it was finally time to sleep, Clare put Hollyâs seat down and tucked her in. The flight attendant who was to take care of them for the duration of their flight noticed the very clear power distinction and came up next to Clare.
âPlease forgive me if I am overstepping, but would your baby like a coloring in set?â She asked Clare in a hushed tone. There was only one other person sitting in business class, and they were at the front, Clare and Holly had been sat at the back, and Clare was sure he wouldnât be able to hear anything. Clare looked at the flight attendant and smiled as they exchanged knowing looks.
âThat would be wonderful thank you,â Clare replied, happy to have their dynamic so open. Holly sat up and looked from Clare to the flight attendant and back to Clare when, the flight attendant, who introduced herself as Jenny, came up to Holly and gave her the coloring in set.
âArenât you going to thank the nice lady baby girl?â Clare said making Holly blush.
âThank you,â she said, looking down, and Jenny smiled at her kindly before disappearing behind a curtain.
âMommy,â Holly said alarmed at what had just happened. Dismissing her, Clare took out the colors.
âDraw Mommy a picture baby,â she said as Holly got to work almost immediately.
Soon time passed before Clare saw Jenny again, this time she passed Clare a wine and Holly a juice box and told Holly what a great picture she had drawn. Holly beamed, and Jenny helped her open her juice box.
âIâve got a little one too,â Jenny explained, talking to Clare. Clare enjoyed listening to Jennyâs Australian accent and noted that it wasnât like those bush accents she had heard on the TV.
âOh, Iâm from the city, where, the more British you sound, the higher class you are and the more respect you get. But thatâs more of an Australian secret, Iâm happy I donât have the typical come to mind accent that is portrayed over the world, itâs hideous,â Jenny said making Clare laugh as Holly finished her juice and handed it to Clare.
âOh I can take that for you,â Jenny said, holding her hand out to Holly.
âNo,â Holly said, making Clare instantly mad.
âHolly, thatâs not what we say too nice people,â Clare said as Holly passed her juice box to Clare. Clare passed the container to Jenny and decided it was time for Holly to be humiliated.
âIâm just going to teach her a lesson, would you like to watch?â Clare asked Jenny, who smiled eagerly.
